Prof. Sharda Vashisth is heading the Multidisciplinary Engineering Department. A self-directed, action-oriented professional with 26 years of experience in education with high energy enabling maximum and efficient work under pressure. 6-times “Best Teacher” awardee, Prof. Sharda Vashisth, is dedicated, resourceful and a goal-driven educator with a solid commitment to the social and academic growth and development of every student.
She has been instrumental in setting up the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) Lab in association with ISRO and is working on various projects with ISRO scientists. She has mentored a research project funded by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India. She has authored a book titled Digital Electronics and Devices which is helpful in setting up the foundation for ECE and CSE design engineers.
Prof. Vashisth has guided 35 M.Tech dissertations and several projects based on Signal Processing, Biomedical Electronics, and Navigation Systems. She has published around 70 research papers in international journals and conferences and has chaired sessions in various IEEE and springer conferences and has been the technical program committee member of various conferences. She has published 6 patents. She is a professional member of IEEE, SPIE, ISTD and ISTE.

Dr. Rohit Singh Lather is currently Associate Head Associate Professor Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering. Leading B.Tech. Automotive Technology Program at The NorthCap University, Gurugram, where expertise in Pedagogy, Engineering, and Management are utilized. Graduation in 2005 with a bachelor of mechanical engineering from Kurukshetra University. Post-graduated in Automotive Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) in 2008. PhD, in Energy Studies from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) in 2014. During his Ph.D. he developed port gas injection system for CNG, HCNG and Hydrogen. Exchange student to UGhent, Belgium.
As a student at IIT Delhi he started “International Association of Hydrogen Energy Student Chapter” at Centre for Energy Studies at IIT Delhi, under the Mentorship of Prof. L.M.Das. He was the first student president of IAHE, IIT Delhi Chapter. After completing his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, started career at The NorthCap University Gurugram in 2014. Associate Professor with over 9 years of teaching and research experience in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Energy Studies. He is a consultant to industry assignments. Dr. Vaishali Sahu is an Engineering Professional with an overall experience of 15 + Years in Academics and Research in the field of Civil Engineering. She has obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Hons.) from SGSITS, Indore and Master’s in Environmental Engineering from IIT Roorkee. She has done her Ph.D. from The NorthCap University, Gurgaon.
Her area of specialization is waste and resource management, sustainable waste management, water and waste water treatment processes, recycle and reuse potential. She has published over 33 research papers in reputed peer reviewed National and International journals, 1 book and more than 18 research papers in conference proceedings. She is serving as a reviewer to various reputed International Journals. She has supervised 3 PhD thesis and 18 MTech dissertation and over 20 B.Tech projects in the area of sustainable waste management, water resource management, pollution and control, environmental geotechnology. She is currently guiding 4 PhD Scholars at NCU.
Dr. Sahu has completed one DST funded project titled, “Experimental and Numerical Study of Single Pile Capacity Adjacent to Existing Buried Pipe System” in 2019 with the sanctioned cost of Rs. 25.41 lakhs. Apart from teaching and research, Dr. Sahu is contributing to the social community services at large. She believes that volunteering in community service offers us with the prospect to become active members of our community and has a long-term, encouraging impact on society at large. She is making efforts to develop a community of caring and committed individuals at NCU.

Prof. Swaran Ahuja

Prof. Swaran Ahuja received his BTech (Electrical Engg.), MTech (Electronics & Comm. Engg.). & PhD (Digital Signal Processing – 1980) degrees, all from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Since then he has worked in various industries including Avionics, Telecom and IT. His main areas of specialization have been Wireless Communications and while working in the industry, he has handled several R&D Projects related to Telecom and IT.
A number of products and systems developed by him have been commercialized. A few examples are, Radio, Telephone Systems, Synthesized Land Mobile Radios, Radio Direction Finding Systems, Mobile Communication Systems, Wireless based Data Acquisition & Processing Systems, Point-to-Point Microwave Systems, VSAT Systems & High Speed Radio Modems etc. He has also designed several large Telecom & IT projects with nationwide installations. His current areas of interest are Wireless LANs, Software Defined Radios, and Digital Signal Processing. He has published a number of papers in international journals and participated in and organized several technology conferences.
He has been HOD (ECE Dept.) & Dean (Academics) and currently is Academic Advisor at The NorthCap University. He oversees academic and student development-related activities and initiatives towards keeping NorthCap University among the best in the state & the country.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Gopaliya, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Government Engineering College Jagdalpur, has completed his PG and Ph.D. from the coveted Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in the field of Fluid Mechanics.
Dr. Gopaliya is currently working on research problems related to multi-modal slurry flows and the effect of nano-particles on the performance of heat exchangers and guiding 5 Ph.D. students on related topics.
Dr. Gopaliya is an active researcher in the field of Fluid Mechanics and its applications for more than 17 years and has published 19 quality publications with 300+ citations apart from completing one sponsored research project worth more than 15 lacs. He has also served at many Academic Administrative Positions in his long academic career.
Dr. Gopaliya has also organized two AICTE sponsored FDPs under ATAL FDP Scheme. He is also actively contributing in the field of Innovation and entrepreneurship as well.
Currently, Dr. Gopaliya is working as Professor in the Department of Multi-Disciplinary Engineering and Dean-Academic Affairs at The NorthCap University Gurugram.

Dr Vandana Khanna

Dr Vandana Khanna has a total of 19.5 years of teaching, research and industry experience. Prior to joining The NorthCap University in July 2009, she has 6 years of VLSI industry experience as a Design Engineer in Motorola India Ltd, and as Senior Design Engineer in Freescale Semiconductor Ltd. She worked in many projects in wireless domain. Dr. Vandana has guided 1 Phd Thesis, 11 M.Tech Dissertations and several B.Tech projects. Presently 3 PhD Scholars are doing research under her guidance. She has published 36 research papers/book chapters in indexed national/international journals and conferences including 12 SCI/Scopus indexed publications.
She is the reviewer of various reputed journals and conferences. Her research interests include CMOS VLSI Design, VLSI Physical Design, Modelling of photovoltaic cells and systems, Internet of Things and Soft Computing. Dr. Vandana is a VLSI domain expert and has contributed to the development of various courses and labs in the same domain. Her dedication and commitment has contributed towards successful implementation of Embedded Systems and VLSI Design specialization in the Department. Dr. Vandana achieved three ‘Bravo awards’ which were based on best performance in projects during her work in the VLSI industry. She is recipient of ‘Star Performer’ award, ‘Best Research Paper’ award and ‘Best Faculty’ award at The NorthCap University, which shows her perseverance in whatever she takes up. She is the recipient of Elite+Silver certification for VLSI Physical Design from NPTEL. She has many certification courses from Entuple, Excel VLSI, and Coding Ninjas, to her credit.
A self-starter and a dedicated professional, Dr. Vandana is handling various responsibilities in the university and the department of MDE. She is a resource person who has setup the ‘Tinkering Lab’ in the university for the purpose of innovative and inter-disciplinary project work by students. Dr. Vandana is a Corporate Member and faculty advisor of the Institution of Engineers India Chapter at the university. She is the initiator, and faculty coordinator of the ‘Chetna club’ – a community service club. Dr. Vandana is actively organizing and coordinating technical/personality development workshops, career counselling sessions, webinars, competitions on coding, social welfare, and holistic health related activities.

Dr. Singh has completed his Ph.D. from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology in the area of Advanced Manufacturing i.e. “Microwave processing of metal-ceramic composite castings”. Dr. Singh has more than 9 years of Academic and Industrial experience.
Dr. Singh’s fields of research include microwave materials processing, development of composites (MMC’s, PMC’s and CMC’s), casting, and welding. Dr. Singh has more than 25 SCI/SCIE/Scopus papers in various reputed international journals including ASME, ELSEVIER, TAYLOR & FRANCIS, SAGE, EMERALD, etc. with overall impact factor of more than 50. Dr Singh has authored more than 5 book chapters and one edited book on “Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Processing Methods and Technologies” with Taylor & Francis Group. Dr. Singh has presented two research papers in the international conferences held at Padova, Italy (HES16), which was sponsored by DST under International Travel Scheme and Romania which was sponsored by DST Haryana. Dr. Satnam research work has received more than 850 citation and has H-index of 15.
Dr. Singh has applied for 4 patents in the field of metal-ceramic composite castings, automation and innovative product development. Presently, he is working in the domain of product design and development and developing modules on “Design Thinking” approach. Prof. Anjali Garg did her B.E. from C.R.State College of Engg. Murthal, Sonepat, MD University, M.Tech. from Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi University and Ph.D. in Intelligent Control on Induction Generators, from NIT Kurukshetra. A specialist in control and instrumentation, Dr Anjali Garg has guided several projects based on machines, control and fuzzy logic. She has contributed significantly to the development of various Courses and labs. She has a total teaching experience of 27 years including 22 years of rich experience with NCU. Her areas of interest are Control system, Electrical machines, Artificial Intelligence, Wind energy, Solar energy and its control. She had done various government funded and VC Innovation fund projects making total funding amount to 60 Lakhs. She had also filed many patents out of which few had been under final stages. She had published many papers in National and International Journal and conferences. She is guiding Ph.D. scholars in diverse fields.

Dr Mona Aggarwal is working as associate professor with the MDE deptt of the Northcap University. She has done her Ph.D. from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), University of Delhi, New Delhi in the field of Wireless Communication. During the course of her Ph.D, she worked as a full time research scholar at NSIT, New Delhi and has more than 17 years of teaching experience. She is member of various technical societies like IEEE- Institution of electrical & electronics Engineers and SPIE- international professional society for optics and photonics technology. She has published more than 65 research papers in various journals/conferences of international repute. She was awarded with postdoc travel mobility grant of 1000 Euros to visit the Technical University of Munich, Germany in Oct, 2015. Currently she is guiding six PhD scholars and five of her research scholars have been awarded with their PhD degrees. Her research interests are optical wireless communication, cooperative communication, indoor visible light communication systems and energy harvesting techniques for IOT devices.

Dr. Pooja Sabherwal

Dr Pooja Sabherwal has done her Ph.D in the field of ECG Signal Processing. For her MTech, she did her thesis on VHDL Modelling and Simulation of FFT/IFFT Processor and has teaching experience of more than 17 years. She has guided eight MTech dissertations and several BTech projects based on, IoT, Verilog, VHDL Modelling, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing. Currently, she is guiding six PhD scholars in the field of Signal and Image processing, Energy Harvesting, Internet of Things and cloud computing.
She has published more than 30 research papers in national and international conferences and SCI journals. She is awarded one German patent and two patents are published under her name. Her area of interest are ECG Signal Analysis, Embedded systems, Signal Processing, Filter Design and Anlaysis, Wavelet Transform, Internet of Things, Energy Harvesting for IOT devices. She was awarded best paper award in ICEIT conference on advances in mobile communications, networking and computing held on 16-17 April , 2015. She is a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Engineers and an active member of IEEE Society. She is selected as Women in Signal Processing for IEEE Signal processing society, Delhi Chapter. She has completed the project of Rs 18.15 Lakhs funded by Department of Science & technology, Government of India. Dr Sabherwal has been awarded as Mentor Innovation Ambassador by Ministry of Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, India. She is actively involved in counselling and guiding students for entrepreneurship activities. She has been also awarded as innovation ambassador by Ministry of Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, India. Many students have won the laurels in Toycathon 2021, Smart India hackathon 2022, Innothon 2021 under her guidance.
Dr Sabherwal is Programme Coordinator(B.Tech ECE) and Department coordinator. She has contributed significantly in the development of the Department’s laboratories and lab manuals. She is handling various responsibilities in University. She is faculty advisor of Sapient Club and SPIE society. Many events/workshops/ guest lectures/webinars for the Sapient Club and SPIE society are conducted under her mentorship.

Mr Anmol Bhatia is currently an Assistant professor( Selection Grade) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The NorthCap University. He is pursuing Ph.D. in the field of Friction Stir welding technology from Delhi Technological University, Delhi. He holds a Masters degree in Manufacturing technology & Automation with a title of batch topper to his credit.
He has been into teaching for more than ten years. He has been involved in teaching various courses at UG and PG level. He has taught the courses like Computer Aided Design, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Production Engineering, Welding Technology, Mechanical Vibrations, Modern manufacturing processes, Material Science, Basics of Mechanical Engineering etc. He has published numerous research papers nationally & internationally. He has also authored a book on Industrial Engineering & Operations Management which is followed at a national level in several Universities and institutes. He stood first in the University as well as secured university rank 1 (Gold Medalist) Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak. He did his M.Tech. in Geotechnical Engineering from IIT Guwahati in 2014. Dr. Akanksha Mathur is currently working as an Assistant Professor (Selection grade) at NCU. After completing her doctoral research work from IIT Delhi, she joined the university in July 2017. Her doctoral research work was on compartment fire dynamics. She worked as Senior Research Fellow in the project funded by BARC, India. She obtained her M. Tech. in Thermal Engineering from IIT Delhi and B.tech in Mechanical Engineering from Govt Engineering College, Ujjain. She has several national and international publications in journals, conference proceedings and as a book chapter. She is a life member of Combustion institute – Indian Section and ISHRAE. She has supervised two Phd students, 4 M.Tech thesis disseratation and 15 B.Tech. projects. Currently, she is guiding two PhD students. Dr. Roshan Raman is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NorthCap University since July 2017. He has completed his Ph.D. degree in the area of alternative fuels and IC engines from Delhi Technological University (previously DCE). He has more than 9 years of teaching and research experience. He is a Member of the SAE and ASME professional society. His area of interest is thermal engineering, IC engines, alternative fuels, HMT, RAC and renewable energy. Dr. Aman Garg has obtained his B.Tech. (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from DCRUST Murthal in 2014, and M.Tech. (Structural Engineering) in 2016 from NIT Kurukshetra. After that he has earned his Ph.D. from NIT Kurukshetra in December 2021. During that tenure, Dr. Aman has carried out the analysis of laminated composite and sandwich structures under hygrothermal conditions.
After submitting his Ph.D. In July 2021, he worked as project employee in Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Kanpur from July 2021 to January 2022. Dr. Garg works in the field of mechanics of advanced materials. His area of interest are mechanics of laminated composites and sandwich structures, functionally graded structures, metal foam core structures, and CNT reinforced composites. Currently he is working on the machine learning assisted analysis of advanced composites. Dr. Aman has authored several papers in SCI/SCIE indexed journals in collaborations with various prestigious institutes located in India and abroad. He is also the reviewer of several journals, prominent being composite structures, waves in random and complex media, archives of applied mechanics etc.

Prof. Amitava Sen Gupta

Prior to joining NCU, Prof. Amitava Sen Gupta superannuated from the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi in March 2015 as its Acting Director, holding the position of Scientist-H/Outstanding Scientist. He also headed the Time & Frequency Standards Division at NPL. He is an expert in the areas of Radio and Atmospheric Physics; Electronics; Atomic Physics; and Time and Frequency Standards. With over 35 years of research experience, his major contributions include design and development of India’s first and one of the world’s most accurate primary atomic clocks, known as the ‘Cesium Fountain’ and the development of the prototype of a space qualified Rubidium Clock for ISRO. He has recently initiated research and development on single trapped Yb ion based optical frequency standards at NPL. He has also developed India’s first satellite based standard time broadcasts using the domestic INSAT satellites. Prof Sen Gupta was a member of the first and second Indian Antarctic Expeditions in 1981-82, where he performed experiments related to upper atmospheric radio propagation and Ozone studies. Subsequently, he was the leader of a 100 member team of the Eighth Indian Antarctic Expedition in 1988-89 setting up the permanent Indian Antarctic station ‘Maitri’.
Prof. Sen Gupta is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Fellow of the Institution of Electronic and Telecom Engineers (IETE), Fellow of the Metrology Society of India (MSI) and a Senior Member of the IEEE, USA. He received the O P Bhasin Award for Science and Technology (2002) for his significant contributions in the field of Electronics and Information Technology. He received NCERT’s National Science Talent Search Scholarship for his UG, PG and PhD studies at the University of Delhi. Presently, Prof Sen Gupta is the President of the MSI and is the Editor-in chief of MAPAN – Journal of Metrology Society of India.

Dr. H M Gupta has served as a professor & former HOD in Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT, Delhi for 40 years. He had been a Chair Professor and an Emeritus Professor. Currently,
he is holding Adjunct Professorial positions at Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu and Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior.
Prof. Gupta held full time faculty appointments at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA. He has been visiting professor at University of Maryland, College Park, USA, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA , Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland, Helsinki University of Technology, Finland, SKK University, Suwon, South Korea, Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland and several British Universities.
His academic and research interests are Information and Communication Systems, Mobile Computing and Networks, Multimedia Information Processing and Photonic Information Systems and Networks. He is a Fellow of ICEIT, Fellow of IETE, Fellow of Institution of Engineers,
and Fellow of CSI. He has been the Vice-President of Systems Society of India, Chairman of Data Communication Division of CSI, President of Information and Communication Division of Indian Science Congress Association, and a founder member of Association for Security of Information Systems (ASIS).
Currently, he is President of Institution of Communication Engineers and Information Technologists (ICEIT). He was a Member of the Board of Governors of IIT, Delhi. He served on
various national committees including committee to establish ERNET in the country, Networking Committee of NMEICT (Ministry of HRD), Human Resource Development Committee of Department of Electronics and information Technology (Ministry of Communications and Information Technology), DST Committee for Networking Research and
Educational Institutions etc.

Drenched with responsibility, integrity and a vision of inclusive growth, he steered Dept. of Elect. Engg. at DCRUST for more than a decade. His administrative prowess is reflected in start of two M.Tech. programmes and NBA-accreditation of B.Tech. programme under his stewardship. He conducted several FDPs and STCs; his Intensive Workshops & talks on The Art & Science of Learning, Teaching & Research; Work Culture & Work Therapy; Soft Computing; Genetic Algorithms; Fuzzy Logic & Selftuning Control; Chaotic Systems; Modern Optimization Algorithms; etc. have been well-received. He designed approx. 40 courses in emerging areas, reviewed books by renowned authors published by international publishers & contributed Book Chapters of int. publications, edited several Conf. Professor Dr. R K Mittal , Former Director of BITS-Pilani and Former Vice Chancellor is an academic leader of eminence, who has championed higher education as a learned academician and able administrator for the past 40 years. Prof. Dr. R K Mittal received BE (honours) in 1973 and ME degree from BITS-Pilani in 1975, and a PhD degree in software engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. He obtained highest rank in order of merit in ME degree programme and was awarded institute’s gold medal. He joined academics at BITS and had been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the last four decades. He has guided several MTech dissertation and PhD students. He is the founding member of the Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems at BITS Pilani. SPIE, The International Society for Optics and Photonics
SPIE publishes the SPIE Digital Library, containing more than 463,000 research papers from the Proceedings of SPIE and the Society’s 10 scholarly journals with around 18,000 new papers added each year and more than 320 eBooks from the SPIE Press catalogue. The SPIE Press publishes print monographs, tutorial texts, Field Guides, and reference books. SPIE also publishes a wide variety of open access content.
Objectives of “SPIE”:

The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI]
The State / Local Centres of IEI spread across the country do organise technical activities and provide platform to the stakeholders, technocrats, policy makers and others to share their expertise to benefit the engineering fraternity. IEI, in collaboration with Springer Nature Pvt. Ltd., regularly publishes peer-reviewed international journals in five Series, covering fifteen engineering disciplines. The NorthCap University runs a Students’ chapter of IEI under the mentorship of faculty advisor- Dr. Vandana Khanna. It is a very active professional society chapter that conducts various technical events like webinars, project competitions, quizzes, workshops, certification programs etc. The chapter also organizes non-technical events like Yoga sessions, fests etc. for the holistic development of the students.
