Vision

Mission

1. To impart quality education in Mechanical Engineering through innovative approaches.

2. To develop creative and skilled professionals to compete with upcoming challenges faced by industries and society in the fields of Manufacturing, Mechanical Design, Thermal and Industrial Engineering.

3. To promote collaborations between the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the external stakeholders for generation and dissemination of knowledge.

4. To continuously upgrade the quality of academic resources and infrastructure of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in order to impart state-of-the-art knowledge to the students.

5. To nurture research environment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

6. To encourage socially relevant and industry oriented projects, and to develop entrepreneurial skills through inter-disciplinary curricular flexibility in the programmes of Mechanical Engineering.

The department has strong and productive MoUs with industries / institutions like – DAIKIN, ASQ, MACE, MEL, DELTA and many more. This has facilitated in industry based live projects.

State-of-the art laboratory facility

The Internal Combustion laboratory with CRDI engine, Vibration lab, 3D printing machine, CoE in HVAC systems etc provide the foundation for excellent understanding and undertaking of projects / research.

Outstanding Industry-Academia Interaction

This is carried out periodically through industry expert sessions on manufacturing processes, industrial visits for seeing and believing, internships with live projects, professional societies and workshops on LEAN, TQM etc. Some of the industries we are engaged activity are Maruti, Delta, MEL, IFB, Honda, SONA

Holistic development

The contextual teaching-learning process, Maker’s Space, Sports, external project participation, leadership skill development through clubs and professional societies – ISHRAE, SAE and ASQ provide a holistic development of students.

Dr. Pramod Bhatia Head of the Department

The primary focus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is on providing quality education, nurturing innovative thinking and promoting a socially relevant research environment in the field of Mechanical Engineering. We maintain a high level of industry-academia collaboration through a wide range of activities. The Department has an interdisciplinary Vibration Lab which has been set up by Beijing Wavespectrum Science & Technology Co, China with an investment of over USD 60,000. We are in the process of setting up a Centre of Excellence (COE) in association with the industry leader- M/S Daikin Air-conditioning India Pvt Ltd which will provide hands-on training to our students, help in the integration of experiments into the curriculum, offer productive internship to pre-final year students and potential placement avenues. We have a very productive MoU with the Maruti Center for Excellence (MACE) which has been providing live industry-based projects to students.

We have very relevant and industry-ready curricula with flexibility of choosing courses from a large number of departmental and interdepartmental Electives and also provide our students the option of choosing their subject of specialization. We have developed a collaborative environment for learning with greater emphasis on interdisciplinary courses, projects and research. We equip our students with important transferable skills including critical thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving and collaborative working. Students learn to work as a member of a team and become well-equipped and talented graduates with the right attitude.
