To be known in the area of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering as a department with unending quest for learning innovations, academic excellence and socially relevant quality research outcomes of internationally recognized standards; emerge as a preferred destination for students, faculty, employers and collaborators.

Mission

  1. To provide wholesome quality education in Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering to Undergraduate and Post Graduate students leading to placements preferably in global core companies and for higher education and research.
  2. To build up research expertise and facilities in selected areas of competence like Advanced Communication Technology, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Power Systems, Power Electronics etc. to emerge as a preferred destination for post graduate education and research in North India.
  3. To imbibe in our graduates and scholars the importance of ethics, environment and social responsibilities.
  4. To develop close linkages with industry and alumni
  5. To establish centres of excellence in various areas of technology as well as interdisciplinary areas for promoting research and developing technology support for industry and Government institutions through collaborations and sponsored projects.

All faculty members having close interfaces with industry through faculty Externship program, an innovative step towards bridging industry academia gap. Many MOUs including with ISRO for research projects and IITs for various e-learning programs of MHRD, Govt of India, with industries like Mitsubishi for project work etc.

PhD Programs & Research

Congenial environment for research with more than 25 research scholars pursuing their Ph.D & working in futuristic areas like emerging wireless technologies, VLSI design, renewable energy etc. The dept has yearly more than 50 research publications by faculty in top SCI/ Scopus indexed journals / conferences and the faculty is also working on several sponsored research projects from GOI & other agencies.

Teaching Pedagogy In Line With Industry Needs

Progressive teaching pedagogy with emphasis on development of higher order skills like problem solving, creative thinking etc. through beyond the classroom learning in tune with current employability requirements. Strong emphasis on Context & project based learning through mini projects, tinkering lab, thought lab, industry visits, guest lectures and Student Activities & Leadership events, professional societies like IEEE student chapter, SPIE, incubation center etc. and giving due credits for their outcomes.

HOD's Message

Dr. Sharda Vashisth Head of the Department

With increasing competition for jobs for engineering graduates in Telecom & IT space, the ECE dept. also has taken several innovative steps both in revamping program curriculum & teaching pedagogy to ensure that our students are well equipped and stay ahead in the job market.

Our recent interactions with top industry experts have brought out that employability of the students no longer depends only on domain knowledge but also requires higher order skills like problem solving, creative thinking, design and analytical skills, communication skills, leadership & team work etc. For development of many of these skills, within and also beyond the classroom learning is required. The department has created several opportunities for students to achieve this through introduction of context and project based learning, setting up of tinkering lab, innovation and incubation center, thought lab, multiple mini projects and several co-curricular & extracurricular activities and also integrating these with curriculum. The curriculum, through optimum balance, provides sufficient time to students for undertaking these activities and gives due credits for out of class achievements.

A faculty externship scheme has also been introduced to keep the faculty updated about latest in industry. The faculty spends about a week every semester in relevant industry to study & experience industry environment and bring the industry perspective to class room teaching to bridge the gap between teaching & its real life applications.
