Sports at NCU
The NorthCap University provides a wealth of sporting opportunities, both on and off campus. The University has sports facilities for nearly all indoor and outdoor sports. The numerous sports facilities and clubs provide an array of activities to choose from. The cricket-cum-football ground is arguably one of the finest grounds in the NCR, with floodlight facilities for night sports. There are multiple ongoing sporting activities that take place throughout the year. The University is an active member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) allowing its students to participate in National Level University Events. The University’s sporting activities are scheduled to fit in with the academic timetable, allowing everyone to participate.
All the sports activities at The NorthCap University are conducted under the supervision of the University Sports Committee. In addition to this, there are staff sports co-ordinators in each department, who are also part of this committee.
The main function of the University Sports Committee is to organize the inter-departmental sports events among the students of different departments and select the best among them for the University team to represent the university at inter-university tournaments. It also organizes staff sports events annually.
The NorthCap University Table Tennis team participated in the events organized atDepartment of sports, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education University of Jammu from 11th to 15th January 2018.In which others sixty universities participated. Our team faced fierce competition but reached the quarter finals in respective sports events. The table tennis (M) team from the NorthCap University enjoyed their stay at University of Jammu and showed lot of gusto, enthusiasm and discipline. We are thankful to management and sports committee of the NorthCap University.

Mr. Deepak Sahu, 2nd Year Civil Engineering student participated in the 31st Haryana State Roller Skating Championship, held at Yamunanagar, Haryana from 4-7th January 2018 and has won the 1st position/gold medal in INLINE HOCKEY (senior men category). We congratulate him and wish him all the best for his future.
The Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament 2017-18 was held from 14-17 November 2017. The Winners Boys were the ECE team which consisted of Chirag Kaushik , Sahil Goyal , Tanmay Gogia , Pratyush Grover , Rajat Hariom , Naresh Kumar , Sudhir Malik , Vinit Dhull , Dhruv Bawa , Vatsal Tandon , Shubham Sethi , Rituraj Chauhan , Sagar , Nitin Thakran , Shubham Rawat , Gaurav Hasija , Dikshant Gogia. The Runner’s-up were the SOM team.
The NorthCap University sports teams participated in the events organized at BML Munjal University on 18th and 19th November 2017 in which other Universities namely MLNC, Manipal University, Galgotias University, Bennet University, Ansal University etc also participated. Our teams faced fierce competition but came out victorious in respective sports events. The teams from the NorthCap University Earned laurels in every sport they participated at the Event. NCU students showcased their talent by playing friendly inter-university volley ball matches with BML Munjal University, Gurugram on 7 October 2017. NCU’s volleyball team comprised of Rohit, Arun Kumar, Rahul Singh, Rohit Sehrawat, Dheeraj Sharma, Manoj Gowda, Ankit Budakoti, Rohit Jakhar, Sachin Yadav, Parth, Ishu Chauhan and Akshay Kumar. Participating teams enjoyed the matches and we look forward to playing such friendly matches in the future also.
Student Ansh Gupta, 7th Semester, SOL played for the Kerala Cobras in the Premier Futsal League Season 2. After finishing up as Runners-up in Season 1 in 2016, this time Ansh played with the international footballing legends like Michel Salgado (Spain), Ronaldinho (Brazil), Ryan Giggs (England), Paul Scholes (England), Crespo (Argentina) and many more.Ansh was one the 18 Indian players to be selected from all over India through a series of intense training camps. The tournament was held from 15 September to 1 October 2017 and organised in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Dubai. The tournament was broadcast live on Sony Ten 1, Sony Ten 3 and Sony HD.
Abhinav Tyagi, 1st Year, Dept of CEE, participated in the nationwide Indian Junior Players League (IJPL) Talent Hunt cricket tournament held in Dubai, UAE, from 14-30 Sept 2017. There were 16 teams competing in the tournament and he got an opportunity to play for the Haryana State as part of the Haryana Hurricanes.Abhinav qualified three league matches in the tournament and was awarded the Man of the Match trophy in the third league game against the Delhi team.
The Inter-Departmental Lawn Tennis Tournament 2017-18 was held from 10 to 13 October 2017. The Winners Boys were the CEE team which consisted of Dushyant Singh, Ishu Sharma, Suraj, Nishant Thankur and the Runner's-up were the CSE team.
Team for ME Dept won the first prize and the ECE Dept. Team were the runners up in Inter-Departmental Badminton Tournament 2017. In the Inter-Departmental Badminton Tournament 2017-18 held from 3-6 October 2017 the Winners Boys were the ME team which consisted of Vipul Garg, Tanmay, Yash, Vitesh and the Runner’s-up were the ECE team.
Students Shubham Jain, Abhishek and Karan Joon participated in the Table Tennis Tournaments in the annual sports fest Udghosh at IIT Kanpur 2017 held from 12-15 Oct 2017. The Chief Guest at the fest was Olympic Gold Medallist Mr Abhinav Bindra.22 teams competed in the Table Tennis Tournaments. In the semi-final match NCU vs IIT Roorkee, NCU team won 3-2 and in the Final Match NCU vs IIT Bombay, NCU team beat IIT Roorkee 3-0.
Volleyball(M) team of ECE dept bags 1st position while CSE Dept. Team bags 2nd position. Volleyball(W) B.Tech Team won and BBA-LLB(H) womens Basketball Team were the runners up in the Inter-Departmental Volleyball Tournament 2017. The Inter-Departmental Volleyball Tournament 2017-18 was held from 12-14 September 2017. The Winners Boys were the EECE team which consisted of Arun Kumar, Vivek Yadav, Ankit Budakoti, Naman Fulora, Mohit Joshi, Arjun Sahrawat, Ishu Chauhan, Akshay Yadav, Gauransh Ahuja, Ayush Saini, Ankit Kaushik and Sanjeev Kumar. The Runner's-up were the CSE team.The Winners Girls were BTech team which consisted of Shivani Roy, Varsha Yadav, Vidushi Bhardwaj, Shubhashree Dash, Neelam, Rajyashree, Rupali Sharma, Shivani Sahrawat, Turna Rastogi, Purnima, Akshara Walia and Pallavi Singh. The Runner's-up were the BBA-LLB team.

The Runner's-up were the ME team.The Winners Girls were the BTech team which consisted of Shivani Roy, Varsha Yadav, Vidushi Bhardwaj, Shubhashree Dash, Neelam, Rajyashree, Rupali Sharma, Shivani Sahrawat, Turna Rastogi, Purnima, Akshara Walia and Pallavi Singh. The Runner's-up were the BBA-LLB (H) team.
Table Tennis Tournament which was held on 22 August 2017. The CSE Team comprising of Shubham, Abhishek, Parth Raj Gupta and Ankit were declared the winners while the ME Team comprising of Ayush, Himanshu, Rohit and Rahul were declared the Runners Up.
NCU bagged the 1st Position in the Lady Hardinge Medical College Basketball Tournament held at YMCA Sports Complex, New Delhi on 4 and 5 April 2017. Eight teams participated in the tournament and the Final Match was IP University V/s NCU. NCU team won a cash prize of Rs. 3000. NCU team comprised of:

NCU organised an Inter-School Premier League 2017 from 11 to 14 April 2017 at the University's playground for promoting competition and team spirit. Students from 12 schools located in NCR participated in the event to showcase their talent in Cricket.
In a fiercely contested competition, the Drona Public School, Gurugram with their all-round ability won the championship, beating Manav Rachna International School, in the Finals. The Winners and Runner-up teams were felicitated and awarded cups and certificates by The Vice-Chancellor, Brig S K Sharma (Retd) and the Registrar, Col Bikram Mohanty (Retd). Brig S K Sharma (Retd) appreciated the efforts of all the participating teams and congratulated the winning team. He motivated the players to do well and bring laurels to the Schools they represent.
An Athletic meet was organized in the University from 21-24 Feb 2017. There were many events like long jump, high jump, javelin throw, discus throw, shot- putt, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000 mts races, relay race 100 x 4, 200 x 4, for boys and girls. The event was followed by the prize distribution ceremony on 24 Feb 2017 and prizes were awarded to all the winners by the Pro Vice-Chancellor Brig. SK Sharma, Registrar Col. Bikram Mohanty, Chairman Sports Committee, Director SOET Prof. Ravindra Ojha, Vice Chairman Sports Committee Prof. Gaurav Gupta, Dept of APS, Secretary Sports Committee Prof. Praveen Lochab, SOL. They emphasized on the importance of participating in sports. All events were supervised by Sports Officer Mr Sudesh Kumar.
