Civil Eng: Success Story
My name is Sarthak Agarwal and I am pursuing Btech in Civil Engineering from The NorthCap University, Gurugram. I have secured AIR 1129 in Gate Civil 2019.
First of all, I would like to thank the entire faculty members of the civil department for their constant support and guidance during my preparations. The curriculum of the university helped in covering the entire syllabus of Gate. The competitive environment in the department motivated me. The revision classes conducted by the department to revise previous topics played an important role.
The Gate mock tests conducted by the University before the exam helped me to understand the actual exam environment which helped in reducing my mistakes in the final exam.
I would like to wish best of luck to all the aspirants who are aiming for Gate 2020 and would want to suggest them to try learning all the concepts being taught in the college because they will resolve all your queries.
My name is Ishu Sharma and I have been designated as a Sales Manager in Zomato. Being the third company for which I appeared, it was a tough competition. When I started my journey of pursuing bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at NCU, I had one thing very much clear in my mind that I must take a campus placement. Over the years the department and SPA has nurtured me with their efforts on their respective behalves. The pre placement interviews organized by the department and the aptitude tests conducted by SPA in association with cocubes helped me in improving soft skills and enhancing my aptitude. Hence, I am glad that I am provided with such a platform where I could evolve & amplify my skillset and knowledge.
Everyone wants to be successful in their lives but to get success one need to give his or her best and learn from their mistakes. Being rejected from three different companies I didn’t lose hope. Today, I hold an appointment letter from ‘Express Roadways’ and would soon be joining the same after my happy days at NCU.
I am very thankful to NCU and especially to my department, Civil and Environmental Engineering. The department not just helped me in academics but also in sports and other extracurricular activities. For two continuous terms I was the office bearer for SPACE society as technical head, which is still very close to my heart. Working in the conducive environment with teachers cum mentors, friends and juniors, I could fully exploit my potential. And all this was to my benefit, I am a confident man today. This confidence held me up, pushing me to give my best and to secure a position in the outside world soon after I graduate. All the faculty members were very cooperative and helpful. To name a few, Mr. Lokesh Choudhary, my B.Tech. project mentor gave a different opinion to my thoughts which are worth remembering for lifetime. I am also thankful to SPA for their guidance support.
During my childhood, I have always dreamt of how these big skyscrapers are made? Who makes them, if not god? When I grew up, I had an answer and a will to be a Civil Engineer. Touring the campus and meeting faculty and staff were the major reasons I choose Civil Department at NCU. My four years in NCU have been the best years of my life and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering has given me great opportunities to learn the technicalities which has helped in broadening my horizons, helping in becoming the best person I can be. During my tenure, involvement with my professors helped me gain confidence and provided me with an experience that I couldn’t have received in a different place than NCU. My experience with the campus has been everything I thought it would be and more. Getting placed with Shobha at their Dubai Campus which is also the 1 st International placement of the university was another milestone and like a dream come true which I owe it to my department. The NCU campus is truly a community & I will forever be grateful for all the support.
Campus placements are always a nerve wrecking and tough experience for any candidate because at that moment you have to showcase the best in you. I feel that Pre – Placement Interview sessions are the biggest advantage in placement process because it creates a real environment of corporate interviewing process so that we could get to know our weak areas. Getting selected in “Vegazva” was a big deal for me. I learned some important things during the selection process which I would like to share with every aspiring candidate.
Nowadays, every corporate organisation requires candidates with inherent managerial and technical skills. Hence, it becomes really important that apart from academic requirements students must participate actively in extra-curricular activities, societies/clubs of university to get the required exposure. I have participated actively in SPACE society of Civil Department throughout my undergraduate journey which helped me a lot in flourishing my managerial skills.I would further like to add that interviewer always try to grill on the things that you have written in your CV, hence don’t write false or fake things that you can’t justify. Staying calm and answering with confidence is the key to achievement.
I would like to thank my faculty and SPA for supporting me all through.
