Abhivyakt, the Debating Society of NCU hosted an intra-college debate competition, Altercation – The Great Debate, at the University on 6 April 2018. The topic for the debate was ‘Are traditions an obstacle to the progress of Indian Society’. ‘Altercation-The Great Debate’ is an annual event organized to continue with the tradition of debating at the University and to encourage students to come out and showcase their skills and compete with like-minded people and the winning Department is awarded a trophy.

This year there were 11 teams of debaters from the different Schools and Departments at NCU. The debate was lively with a plethora of arguments and counter arguments. The audience was allowed two interjections per team and the event witnessed an awesome response and great participation and interjections from the audience too. Saloni Arora and Piyush Nayyer (CSE), emerged as the Winners with Noble Robinson and Rashi Shahrawat, (SOL) a close Second. The best interjections were also recognised and awarded. Alumnus, Mr Sachin Rajawat, Founder Abhivyakt and an avid debater, was a part of the team of jury.

The prize distribution ceremony was organized on 13 April 2018 where the winners were awarded by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, HB Raghavendra. The event was coordinated by the President of the Society, Chavvi Jain and her team. Dr Divyabha was the faculty coordinator of the event.
