Introduction for Power System –I  Lab

 

Power system-I lab is a well-equipped laboratory for experiment on power system transmission & distribution relevant to the electrical  field. The labs have cut working model  & kits of all the transmission & distribution system, circuit breakers & switched mode power supply type, for students to understand the concept of electrical power transmission & distribution. The students will perform the value added experiments also using MATLAB software.

 

List of Experiments for Power system –I  Lab

1. To study the SMPS and observe various output waveform for Single  output SMPS trainer.

2. To study the SMPS and observe various output waveform for multi output SMPS trainer.

3. To study the SMPS and observe various output waveform for Single output SMPS trainer under line regulation.

4. To study the SMPS and observe various output waveform for multi output SMPS trainer under line regulation.

5. To study the static SCR DC circuit breaker with various load current.

6. Determine the sequence components of phase currents and voltages for three-phase, three-wire & three-phase, four-wire systems. Observe the neutral displacement voltage for three-phase, three-wire and neutral current for three-phase, four-wire systems.

7.Power-angle characteristic of a transmission line with the following objectives:

a)To draw the power-angle characteristic

b)To study the changein power transfer for variations in transfer reactance, and sending enc and receiving-end voltages.

8. The effect of load variation on the performance of short transmission line under various operating conditions viz sending and receiving end voltages equal in magnitude and constant, sending end voltage constant and receiving end voltage constant using MATLAB/PSPICE

9. To Study the 2-wire DC Distribution feed at one end and calculate the various load current using VPST-102 for the short transmission line.

10 To Study the 2-wire DC Distribution feed at one end and calculate the various load current using VPST-102 for medium transmission line.

11. To Study the 2-wire DC Distribution feed at one end and calculate the various load current using VPST-102 for long transmission line.

12. To Study the 2-wire DC Distribution fed at both end and calculate the various load current usingVPST-102 for long transmission line.

 

VALUE ADDED EXPERIMENTS

13 To plot the instantaneous power in single phase ac circuits using MAT LAB.

14. Study of a short transmission line model and to find out resistance, reactance, voltage regulation and efficiency of the line using MATLAB.
