DIGITAL ELECTRONICS LABORATORY



This laboratory introduces the student to basics of Digital Electronics. Students are encouraged to design and verify various types of digital circuits. Emphasis is on designing of combinational and sequential circuits both. Practical demonstration of the theoretical concepts done in classrooms will enhance the understanding of the students. The experiments included in the curriculum cover majority of the digital circuits studied in theory. A few value added experiments also have been added to enhance the skill and capability of students.

The laboratory is well equipped with IC tester, Digital Electronic kits, bread boards, DC power supplies, Logic Probes and various types of digital ICs etc.

The students are provided with a comprehensive Lab Manual, which is almost self explanatory. All the experiments are well documented with clear circuit diagrams, theory and procedures involved, so that the students are able to perform the experiments with ease and proper understanding.The manual includes viva-voce questions to test the students to assess their understanding.

 

LIST OF EXPERIMENTS

  • Study and Simulate of TTL gates – AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, EXOR, EX-NOR 
  • Design and Simulate Ex-OR gate using minimum number of universal gates and verify its operation.
  • Study and Simulate operation of half Adder and Full Adder
  • Designs realize & Simulate BCD to Gray code converter using K-map method and verify its performance.
  • To study and Simulate the characteristics of seven segment display using decoder driver IC7447.
  • To design, Simulate and implement 4-bit adder and subtractor using IC 7483.
  • Study and Simulate operation of Multiplexer & Demultiplexer.
  • Design and Simulate BCD to Excess-3 Converter using 8:1 MUXs and verify its operation.
  • a) Study and Simulate S-R and D Latches using circuit diagrams
  • b) Study and Simulate J-K and T flip flops using IC 7476
  • Study and Simulate the operation of universal shift register using IC 74194, verify the operation of a Ring counter and a Johnson counters
  • Study and simulate the operation of decade counter using IC 7490 & drive a seven-segment display using the same.
  • Analyze the characterstics of the transistor – transistor logic (TTL) family and Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor Logic (CMOS) family.
  • Design and Simulate Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) and Analog to Digital Converter (ADC)
