Basic Electrical and Electronics

 

To fulfill need of basic concepts for Electrical & Electronics branch of The NorthCap University, experiments in the Basic Electrical & Engineering Lab Manual are designed to cover verification of circuit theorems , resonance  in R-L- C circuits, Transient response in R-L & R-C circuit, line to phase relation and power factor measurement  in star- delta 3-  phase are some of the  high lights MATLAB based verification  of circuit Laws and thevenin  theorem  is covered as value  addition experiments. The lab is a well-equipped   for experiment on machines & other related experiments in the electrical & electronics field. The labs have cut working model of all the machines type, for students to understand their construction & working.Probing  Questions  are added in end of each experiment to as a motivation for the student to probe and strengthened their  better theoretical understanding of the subject.

 

 

List of Experiments

  • To verify Kirchoff’s current law (KCL) and voltage law  (KVL) on resistive circuit with DC input.
  • To verify Thevenin theorem in DC circuits.
  • To verify Norton theorem in DC circuits.
  • To verify maximum power transfer theorem and Superposition in DC circuit.
  • To verify maximum power transfer theorem in ac circuit.
  • To conduct frequency response of a series R-L-C circuit to a) Work out resonance frequency & phasor diagram. b) Draw graph as per measured values. c) Work out Q - factor, band width. d) Draw frequency Vs Cosf curve.
  • To conduct frequency response of a parallel R-L-C circuit, to a) Work out resonance frequency. b) To draw graph as per measured values. c) To work out Q factor, bandwidth.
  • To measure power and power factor in a three - phase circuit by Two Wattmeter method.
  • To find out the Line Voltage, Phase Voltage Relationship, Line Current and Phase Current Relationship in case of Star- Connected and Delta Connected, 3- Phase Balanced Load.
