National Conference on "Recent Advances in Nano-Science and Nano-Technology"
Nano-technology (sometimes referred to as nanofabrication) is a field of applied science and technology covering a broad range of topics. The main unifying theme is the control of matter on a scale below one micron, as well as the fabrication of devices on this same length scale. Nano-technology is an umbrella description of emerging technological developments associated with sub-microscopic dimensions. Nano-science and Nano-technology may prove to be the first cutting edge field to reflect the new realities of global science in 21st century”. The expanding horizon of Nano-Technology has revealed the art and beauty of nano-structures and nanomaterials. It is becoming evident that nano-scale process holds many surprises and intrigues.
Ever since the discovery of carbon nanotubes by Iijima in 1991, the field of nanotechnology has assumed great significance. It finds application in device miniaturization in semi conductor, nano scale gas/chemical sensors, hydrogen storage material, nano particle batteries and in scanning tunneling microscope in particular.
Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities of The NorthCap University, Gurugram organized the conference “ Recent Advances in Nano-Science and Nano-Technology”. The basic aim of the conference was two fold : first to discuss various aspects of the recent developments in the field of Nano-Science and Nano-technology and its impact on the Industrial growth and second to provide a platform for both, experienced and young brains for the exchange of ideas on this encouraging area of research. The list of speakers included number of renowned experts from University of Delhi , IIT, Delhi , National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi and other prominent institutions of NCR region. Over all there were eight invited talks and sixteen research papers which indicated the tremendous interest which the field of Nano-Science and Nano-Technology has generated among the scientists all over the world and specially in India .
All in all, the conference was a great success and most of the participants were of the opinion that such conferences should be held on a regular basis.
