Programme Educational Objectives (PEO’s)

1. To equip students with knowledge, abilities and insight in Physics and related fields.

2. To equip them to analyze and communicate physics facts, effectively in inter-disciplinary environment.

3. To equip students with the ability to translate and synthesize their understanding towards nature, human and development.

4. To equip the students with the ability to utilize the concepts of Physics such as optics, electricity, Magnetism, Thermodynamics etc and their applications in addressing the practical and heuristic issues.

5. To enable students to recognize the need for and the ability to engage in life-long learning

1. Able to apply the knowledge of Physical science to solve real life problems.

2. Able to apply the modern measurement technology, including optics, analog electronics, computer data acquisition, laboratory test equipment by critical understanding and analysis.

3. Able to provide a systematic understanding of core physical concepts, their theories and applications.

4. Communicate the results of theoretical calculations and laboratory experiments in a clear and concise manner that incorporates the scientific conventions used by physicists worldwide.

5. Able to lead, work in team and give priority to the success of team.

Curriculum

Curriculum is benchmarked with UGC, IIT’S and other reputed Universities. The syllabus is aligned with that of NET, GATE, JAM and other competitive exams.

Alumni cell caters the interactions between past and present students to enable students to follow their dream jobs and explore alternative options.

Highly experienced and research oriented Faculty, all holding Ph.D degree (mostly from IITs, NITs, Central and State Universities).

Each student is assigned a faculty counselor, who guide students on personal and professional decisions and help them to create a career trajectory.

Research & Ph.D

More than 30 research scholars are pursuing their PhD in various emerging areas of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The Ddepartment has received funding from various funding agencies like DST, DRDO etc. More than 50 research papers per year are published by various faculty members of the Department in International journals of repute.

Teaching Learning Pedagogy

Advanced tools including virtual labs, MOOC Courses etc. are used. Strong emphasis on Context & project based learning through mini projects, tinkering lab, guest lecturers etc. Student activities through professional societies like OSA student chapter, ENACTUS, incubation center etc. are encouraged.

Laboratories

The Department holds various state-of-the art laboratories like; Physics Lab, Chemistry lab, Maths Lab, which are made available to the students to take their laboratory experience to a whole new level. The research laboratories are equipped with world class equipments like SEM, UV-VIS-NIR Spectroscope, L-C-R Meter, holography set up etc.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (B.SC.) IN PHYSICS (3 YEARS)

Minimum 60% marks in best four subjects (with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects) at the 12th level from any recognized Board with at least 50% marks in Physics. Physical education will not be counted amongst best four subjects. (Minimum 60% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA in 10th is compulsory.)
