VI – National Moot Court Competition

The School of Law, The NorthCap University organized VI-National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) under the theme ‘illegal and mining’, pressing the issue of environmental laws from 6-7 April 2019. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Guest Mr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, MP Rajya Sabha, Senior Advocate at Supreme Court, appreciating the efforts of the School of Law, highlighted a critical and important issue of present day relevance namely, the illegal sand mining spreading across the nation.

SOL at NCU has carved a niche for itself as a leader in Environment Law Moot Court Competition. The Moot Proposition for the VI Edition highlighted the sensitive issue of water preservation in a developing country. The competition aimed to tackle a pertinent question of how to balance the environmental concerns as well as the socio-economic needs of individuals. The Moot Court Competition witnessed participation of 22 teams from Central and State Universities, National and Private Law Schools from all across the country. A total of eight teams reached to the final round, chaired by a bench comprising of Hon’ble Mr Justice S R Singh (Retd. Judge Allahabad High Court), Hon’ble Mr Justice Rameshwar Malik (Retd. Judge Delhi High Court) and Mr Suneel Chauhan ( Director, Nalsa)

Amity Law School, Noida emerged as the Winner of the competition and was awarded a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Army Law College , Mohali were the Runners-up and awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Award for the Best Memorial of Rs 5,000 was bagged by U.P.E.S, Dehradun; Award for Best Female Mooter of Rs 5,000 was won by Army Law College, Mohali and Award for Best Male Mooter of Rs 5,000 was won by Rajeev Gandhi National Law University, patiala.
