Inaugural Ceremony of Centre for Development in Energy and Environment Policy (CDEEP) – 23rd November 2017

School of Law, NCU organised an Inaugural Ceremony of Centre for Development in Energy and Environment Policy (CDEEP) on 23rd November 2017. The Inaugural ceremony witnessed the august presence of the Guest of Honour, Dr. V.N. Paranjape, Corporate Legal Head, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Chief Guest, Dr. S B Mitra, Executive Director (LAW & HR), GAIL (India) Limited, Prof. (Dr.) Subhash C Gupta, Ph D in Law and Ph D in Management.

The Centre for Development in Energy and Environment Policy (CDEEP) was inaugurated by cutting the ribbon and releasing the brochure, by the Prof. (Dr.) Prem Vrat, Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Kanu Priya, Centre Head, CDEEP cum Head, School of Law, NCU, Pushpesh Pant (Padma Shree Awardee), HOD (Engineering), HOD (Management) alongwith esteemed dignitaries.

The introduction about CDEEP was emphatically delivered by Mr. Shashikant Yadav, Research Head, CDEEP. Mr. Shashikant spoke about the robust idea of establishing this centre. This involves inter-disciplinary engagement of the University to have a niche centre, aspiring in multifold research and policy development in the field of Energy and Environment.

Also, the Guest of Honour, Dr. V.N.Paranjape gave the analytical insight to the gathering about the human dependence on various forms of energy subsisting on the planet. He emphasized on the need of establishment of such centre in order to have holistic, concrete and sustainable development. Dr. S B Mitra, described the undiscovered potential available in the Shale gas and its legal conundrum. Dr. Subash Gupta, gave his valuable inputs by mentioning the indelible importance of having a centre first of its kind. The inquisitive audience was provided with his extrapolating words of wisdom. Mr. S.C. Gupta inclined his speech towards the concept of role of cumulative efforts in dealing problems of scarcity present in India. Such issues requires policy, legal, scientific, management and anthropogenic study. Lastly, Dr. Kanu Priya, Centre Head, CDEEP cum Head, School of Law delivered vote of thanks and all the dignitaries were presented with the Guest mementos. The Faculty Coordinators from all the three schools namely, Dr. Balwinder Singh, Assistant Professor SOL, Dr. Sushmita Waraich Assistant Professor SOM, and Mr. Lokesh Choudhary Assistant Professor SOET were also present during the inaugural ceremony of the Centre. The event was coordinated by Ms. Pallavi Bajpai, Assistant Professor and alongwith CDEEP Student Coordinator, 4th Year BBA-LLB (H).
