Prof. Prem Vrat attended Regional Conference for Central Universities

Prof. Prem Vrat, Pro-Chancellor, The NorthCap University was invited to deliver two sessions on Visionary Leadership in Higher Education during two-day Regional Conference for Central Universities on ‘Leadership for Academic Excellence in Higher Education’, held at University of Guwahati, Assam on 20-21 April 2016. Coordinated by IIM Raipur, with support from Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), University Grants Commission (UGC), National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) and HRDC at University of Guwahati, the Conference was designed along three themes of ‘Visionary Leadership in Higher Education’, ‘Envisioning Future of Higher Education’ and ‘Vision to Action & Way Forward’.

During the first session, Prof. Prem Vrat highlighted the role of academic leadership for excellence in higher education, in line with the Prime Minister’s envisioning of India as a 21st century knowledge society. He emphasized on the need to make people globally employable in order to enhance the potential of India’s demographic dividend.

During the second session, Prof. Vrat dwelled on the concept of Shared Vision, and explained that a vision statement should be a direction indicator with a long-term relevance encapsulated by very brief contents. He opined that there is a need for a coordinated integration of technology, people and processes.
