Guest Lecture on ‘Introduction to Security enhanced Linux (SELinux) and its application in Android (SEAndroid)’

The Dept of CSE&IT organized a guest lecture on ‘Introduction to Security enhanced Linux (SELinux) and its application in Android (SEAndroid)’ by Mr Mayak, Senior Architect, Hughes Systique, India on 7 April 2016. Mr Mayak heads the HSC Research & Development division in Android devices and has an experience of over 15 years in software development in multiple areas, majorly into satellite communication, TCP protocols, Linux kernel and related areas.

During the lecture, Mr Mayak talked about SELinux and explained that it is a security enhancement allowing the administrator better control over access to various system resources. He covered common SELinux terminologies, high level architecture and differences in Android and Linux with respect to SELinux. He also explained various applications of SELinux in Android, commonly termed as SEAndroid. It was an enlightening session for the participants.
