1. Is The NorthCap University UGC Recognized?

The NorthCap University is established under Haryana Private University Act No. 25 of 2009 (Third amendment) recognized by the University Grants Commission, Govt. of India, under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956, and empowered to grant degrees under Section 22 of the Act. It is also recognized by the Bar Council of India, Govt. of India.

6. How can I apply for any programme offered by NCU?

There are two ways students can apply:

(a) Online on University website www.ncuindia.edu:- Students can fill in the form online and pay the Application fee of Rs. 1000/- (Non refundable) online, and upload self-attested scanned copies of documents mentioned in the admission brochure. They will receive an email confirmation for their online application.

(b) Offline Application Forms:- Application forms downloaded from the University website should be filled and submitted by hand or by post and enclosing a bank draft of Rs. 1000/- application fee (Non refundable) in favour of The NorthCap University, Gurugram at the University Campus along with the documents mentioned in in the admission brochure. Please mention the name of the programme applied for on the envelope.

Caution Money: A sum of Rs 5,000/- to be charged from each student seeking admission to the University in the Academic Year 2018-19. The amount is interest free and will be refunded to the students at the time of withdrawal or at end of their programmes, whichever is earlier, after deduction of dues, if any.

Alumni Association Fee: A onetime Alumni Association fee of Rs. 1,000/- for all programmes is payable by all students.

Industry Employability Aptitude Test Fees: Industry Employability Aptitude Test fees of Rs. 1,200/- is payable for B.Tech & School of Management programmes only.

Fee applicable in the year of admission shall be subject to year on year increase of 3% for the duration of the programme.

The total fee for the year including hostel charges (if applicable) will be payable in two equal bi-annual installments (semester wise, in advance). Children/wards of NRI / International students shall pay the fee annually, in advance.

Semester fee will not be accepted in parts and/or in installments.

Fees can be paid by cash (subject to below), Demand Draft, Credit Card or Debit Card. All demand drafts shall be made favouring The NorthCap University, Gurugram and shall be payable at Gurugram/ Delhi.

Unless otherwise provided by extant Govt. rules., a maximum of Rs 2 lakhs only shall be accepted in cash from a student during the entire duration of his/her Programme

Taxes if applicable under subsequent Govt./GST rules will be extra.

10. What are the grounds on which a form can be rejected and whether the form fee is refundable?

It is made clear that admissions shall be made strictly on merit, to those who have applied on the application form, within the stipulated time limit mentioned in this Admission Brochure 2018-19 or as may be amended and uploaded on the website and whose application has not been invalidated due to any deficiency. Applications which are incomplete and not in the application form and not accompanied with the self-attested copies of documents required shall be rejected.

11. How will I get the intimation of admission after qualifying the selection process?

Admission cum Merit list prepared on the basis of selection criteria / distribution of seats will be uploaded on the website of the University www.ncuindia.edu, and displayed on the Notice Board of the University for the Information of all concerned as per dates mentioned in Important dates at FAQ - 7.

13. Is JEE score considered for admission in B.Tech programme at The NorthCap University?

Yes, JEE score is considered for admission to B.Tech courses and given 60% weightage. Please also refer to FAQ- 5

14. Is there any Lateral entry option available for diploma holders in BTech?

Yes, there is a provision for admission to Lateral Entry Scheme in the Second Year of BTech programme. The details of the eligibility criteria and selection procedure is as under:

  • No. of Seats: 10% of the approved intake of CSE, ECE, ME and CV
  • Duration: 3 Years
  • Citizenship: Indian Nationals
  • Eligibility:
    • Candidate should be among first 10% of the students qualifying the LEET (2018) exam of the state.
    • Candidate should have studied his/her 10th/12th class in English medium
    • Candidate should not be more than 24 age on 31st Dec. 2018
    • Candidate should have passed Diploma in relevant branch of Engineering granted by the Board of Technical Examination of a State Government with at least 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam.
    • Candidate should also have obtained min 60% aggregate in 10th and/or 12th (as the case may be)

Lateral Entry (Selection Process): Students will be selected as per the merit list prepared on the basis of weightage of the marks in the State LEET exam is 80% and weightage of the marks obtained by the applicant in Diploma is 20%.

15. Is there any specific format for SC certificate, Medical certificate, Anti- ragging certificate?

Yes, there are specific formats available and are attached with the Admission Brochure Part II as Form - 2 onwards.

Kashmiri Migrants should attach J&K Migrant's certificate issued from Government of Jammu & Kashmir Office of the Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) Jammu, with the application form.

16. Is there any management/NRI seats? If yes, how many and what is the fee structure and eligibility criteria?

Yes there are seats available for NRI Students. 15% intake in each discipline in each programme will be allocated for Children/Wards of NRI/International students. Unfilled seats in this category will be transferred to the resident Indian category and shall be filled on merit.

The applicant must be a child/ward of a Non Resident Indian (NRI)/ as defined under Income Tax Act and must comply with the minimum eligibility criteria to be eligible under this category. In addition, International students can also apply under this category and their admission will be based on the aggregate marks secured in Class XII/Graduation or equivalent of their qualification. A student who has obtained a foreign qualification at the 10+2 / Graduation or equivalent level would be required to submit a certificate of equivalence from AIU (Association of Indian Universities). International students will have to get all clearances, including but not limited to visa requirements etc. from all statutory bodies of their respective countries and India.

17. What is the procedure if I miss the last date for sending application in any programme?

Candidates who have not applied earlier but are desirous of taking admission can apply in various counselling for concern programme and be present alongwith all documents as per list attached with the application form and semester fee. After physical counselling for the concern programme as per FAQ - 7 vacant and droop out seats if any, shall be filled on first come first basis.

18. Can I apply to more than one programme? If yes, do one application can help or different applications required to be submitted?

Yes, you can apply for more than one program. Different applications are required to be submitted along with the application fee.

19. I have submitted my original documents in some other university during its counselling. What should I do if I want to take admission at The NorthCap University?

All original academic and personal certificates and testimonials like mark-sheets, school leaving certificates are required only for verification and other such documents including migration certificate is necessary for taking admission. All documents other than migration certificate shall be returned by the University after their due verification and receipt of fees. In case a student withdraws before the last date of admission the original migration certificate shall also be returned.

However, Migration from the last institution to The NorthCap University shall be deemed to be complete only after submitting the Migration Certificate. In case a student leaves after the last date of admission for vacant and drop out seats the original migration certificate submitted by the candidate will accordingly be cancelled by stamping across it. Migration certificate shall be issued by the University under its seal in case of Migration/Withdrawal after the last date of admission and / or completion of the degree subject to fulfilment of all requirements as per rules/ regulations of the University.

The self-attested testimonials of students shall be held valid and authentic for all purposes and administrative requirements and should there be a need for physical verification at any time during the course of program of study, such verification shall be undertaken in the presence of the student and certificates and testimonials thus verified shall be returned immediately to the student.

20. I am a 2016 passed out student, am I eligible for B.Tech admissions?

A student who wishes to be admitted after a gap period of one year and/ or more (after passing the 10+2 / Graduation examination) shall submit at the time of admission, an affidavit duly Notarized, justifying the reasons for the gap period and certifying that he / she had not taken admission in any college / university or had not been rusticated or had not been sentenced to jail for a criminal offence. In case a student had taken admission in any other college / university during the gap years he/she shall have to provide an NOC / Migration certificate from the said college / university. He/she will necessarily have to comply with the minimum eligibility criteria including programme wise applicable entrance examination, if any.

21. Is there any age limit for UG and PG programmes?

The applicant must not be more than 21 years of age as on 31st December, 2018 for UG programmes. The date of birth printed on the Class X mark sheet issued by CBSE or equivalent board shall be considered for determining the age of the candidate. In case of student(s) who may have passed their equivalent examination from an overseas board, the age mentioned on his/her passport shall be considered.

For PG programmes, there is no age limit.

22. Can student whose results are awaited, apply for PG programme offered by The NorthCap University?

M.Tech/M.Sc (Maths) Programme: Candidates appearing in the final year of their qualifying degree examination and those who have appeared and awaiting their results can also apply. Such candidates must produce a certificate from the Principal/ Head of the University / Institution certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year / is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 55% marks or equivalent based on latest available grades or marks. If selected, such candidates may be permitted to join the programs provisionally subject to his / her final result complying with the minimum eligibility criteria latest by 15/08/2018. The admission will be confirmed only when the candidate submits the marks / grade sheet and a certificate of having passed the qualifying degree and his/ her result complies with the minimum eligibility criteria latest by 15/08/2018. Non fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission and the seat under such circumstances shall be offered and filled by another eligible candidate.

23. My son is currently doing his B.Tech 1st year in other University. Can he join The NorthCap University from 2nd year?

24. My son is currently doing his B.Tech 1st year in the University. Can I get his branch changed in second Year?

Limited seats are available for outstanding students to change their branch after first year. This option is available only to those students who are among top 10% in these class and above and selection will be as per merit only.

25. Is there any specialization available in B.Tech pragrammes offered by the university?

In line with industry trends, IoT (Internet of Things) and Data Science are emerging as preferred choices for undergraduate engineering studies. The NorthCap University also offers these specializations in the following programmes:

  1. B.Tech. ECE with specialization in Internet of Things
  2. B.Tech CSE with specialization in Data Science /Analytics

The students can make a choice of the specialization after first year at NCU.Guidelines for allotting specializations are as follows:

  1. No. of seats allotted for these specializations are 20 each in IOT and Data Science.
  2. Specialization IOT can be chosen after first year by B.Tech ECE students.
  3. Specialization Data Science can be chosen after first year by B.Tech CSE students.
  4. The seats will be allotted on the basis of merit after first year. (minimum CGPA of first year should be 7.5).

In addition to the B.Tech degree in the enrolled branch separate certificate mentioning the specialization will be awarded. Overall credits with specialization will remain the same.

26. If I miss JEE, how do I get admission in NCU and in which programmes?

For getting admission in B.Tech, JEE is mandatory. However, you can opt for other programmes. For more refer to FAQ - 5.

27. If I have taken Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, what are the programmes in which I can apply in NCU other than B.Tech?

You can apply for BSc (Hons.) Maths, BSc (Hons.) Physics, BCom (Hons.), BBA and BBA-LLB(Hons.).

28. Is there any programme in which I can apply if I have opted biology as my third subject along with physics and chemistry? If yes, in which programme?

You can apply in BBA and BBA-LLB(H) programme.

29. What are the fee payment options available after selection?

Fees can be paid by Cash, Demand Draft, Credit Card or Debit Card. All demand drafts shall be made favouring The NorthCap University, Gurugram and shall be payable at Gurugram / Delhi.

30. Can I make partial payment after selection so as to reserve my seat in The NorthCap University?

The University has a comprehensive and transparent policy regarding Fee Structure, refund, cancellation & withdrawal policy. Semester fee will not be accepted in parts and/or in installments.

31. What if one fails to deposit the fee as per the last date mentioned on the admission letter?

In the event a student fails to deposit his/her fee on or before the date specified, the offer of admission will stand automatically withdrawn and the student will have no claim whatsoever on the seat.

32. What are the fee concession and scholarship schemes at The NorthCap University?

Fee Concession is applicable to Haryana Residents only for UG programmes and shall be based on Merit-cum-Means criteria, as per the Standard Operating Procedure of The NorthCap University from time to time and available at www.ncuindia.edu.

Notwithstanding the award of fee concessions, all candidates selected for admission will have to first deposit their first semester fee to secure their admission. Those awarded fee concession will be refunded the tuition fee deposited by them as per fee concession awarded, within two months from the last date of admission.

In addition to the merit cum means concession, to encourage & motivate students the following awards are also given:

  1. Merit Based Scholarships
  2. The NorthCap University Scholars Award (On GATE results - for Final Year B.Tech)
  3. Research Fellowship Award (for PhD Scholars)
  4. Vice Chancellor’s Innovation Fund Awards

Only one type of scholarship/fee concession from any source whatsoever is admissible to a student. A certificate signed by the student & parent is to be provided as proof for this.

GATE Scholarship (MTech Students):

Rs 12,400/- per month GATE Scholarship is available through UGC for GATE qualified MTech students, subject to UGC terms and conditions. The tenure of Scholarship is maximum two years without any further extension.

34. Is there any entrance exam for admission in any programme in NCU?

No, there is no entrance examination conducted by the NCU. For more details refer to FAQ - 5.

35. Is there any collaboration of NCU with the international University? If yes, which University?

Yes. However, there is no as such collaborative program. Student is allowed to study at ITB, Dublin, Ireland during his/her final year of B. Tech./M. Tech. programmes. Credits earned there are transferred against equivalent courses at NCU for the award of degree. Facility available during final year of B. Tech. /M. Tech. programmes in EECE, ME and CSE.

36. Is Hostel facility available in The NorthCap University?

Yes, Hostel facility is available at NCU. The University provides its students a comfortable, secure, safe and healthy accommodation. The University accommodation options offers assured benefits, so that a student can settle in and begin to enjoy student life right from day one. There are separate boys and girls hostel to accommodate students. High-quality accommodation, on a shared basis, with clean and hygienic dining facilities is provided by the University. The rooms are well furnished, with a 24-hour power backup, treated water, Wi-Fi, intercom, indoor sports, entertainment and recreational facilities, central kitchen, and a bus for the conveyance of students. All hostels are provided with security guards round the clock. Accommodation in hostels is allotted on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis, as limited numbers of seats are available.

37. Is it compulsory for 1st year students to avail hostel facility?

No, it is not compulsory for 1st Year Students to avail hostel facility.

38. Is there any facility for parents to stay with their wards in hostel during initial days of admission?

No there is no such facility for parents. Hotels are available nearby distance which can be booked by outstation parents.

39. What is the procedure for mid-course withdrawal from the programme?

In the event of a Mid-course withdrawal i.e. withdrawals after the last date of admission for vacant and drop out seats, no refund of fees shall be admissible, as the seat so vacated cannot be filled by the University and shall continue to remain vacant for the entire duration of the programme. Being an unaided, self-financed University, in addition to the first semester tuition fees, the University is entitled to claim the balance year's fees, in view of the Constitution Bench Judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in the case titled, "Islamic Academy of Education Vs State of Karnataka bearing CWP no. 350 of 1993 and related subsequent judgements.

Students under NRI/International category will be admitted on 'first – come – first – served' basis subject to the minimum eligibility criteria and availability of seats. Since admissions in this category shall be made on first come first served basis, no refund will be permissible in case of withdrawal before or after the last date of admission. A candidate granted admission under this category will not be eligible to change his/her branch / discipline once he/she is admitted. Also, a candidate who applies under this category cannot apply for admission under any other category thereafter.

40. What is the role of School of Professional Attachment (SPA) in placement?

The SPA is assigned the responsibility of handling all campus placements. The placement record at the NCU has been close to 100% for last so many years. In addition to placement the SPA also engaged in carrying out the following tasks:

  1. Enhancing student employability
  2. Improved industry internship attachment
  3. Increased student's ownership
  4. Career counselling and gap analysis
  5. Continuous improvement in the systems and processes
  6. Higher and better job placements with a wider industry reach
  7. Obtaining industry feedback for improving the academic curriculum etc.

Various Depts/ Schools also help the students in placements/internships in well-known companies.

41. What is the on campus placement criterion of the University?

Most of the industries require that a student should have 60% through academics with no active back log. However, it varies from company to company.

42. What is the dress code for placement?

Formal dress is required for placement. Guidance is provided by the SPA.

43. What about Placement facilities in The NorthCap University?

As explained FAQ - 40 SPA is assigned with the responsibility of all campus placements. The University accommodates an excellent academic infrastructure for teaching learning process which is also used by SPA. For placement purposes, University has one auditorium with 425 seating, one seminar hall with 100 seating, 08 rooms for interviews and group discussion with seating capacity of 60. Audio visual presentation facility in each room, one master conference room for visiting team, pantry for serving breakfast lunch and dinner as required.

45. Is there any transportation facility for day scholars?

The University provides a bus service from the main campus to the hostel for the conveyance of students. For the added convenience of the students and faculty, the University also operates AC bus subsided service between two nearby Metro stations and the University campus in the morning and evening hours.
