Dr K M Mital is the co-founder and Director, GIFT School of Human Values and Management, Ethos, (a constituent school of the Global Institute of Flexible Systems Management (GIFT), a society for the promotion of flexibility in management. He is a former President of the GIFT Society (2012-2013). Dr Mital is BE (Mech), Agra University, ME (Production) and PhD in Industrial Engineering. He has extensive corporate experience having worked in in various capacities in three major public enterprises in the energy sector, namely, BHEL (16 years), ONGC (9 years) and Engineers India 12 years. He has been a Professor at the Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee, and at IILM Institute for Higher Education, New Delhi.
Dr Mital is the author of over 300 publications comprising of papers, book reviews and technical reports relating to industrial engineering, operations research, management and energy related disciplines (200 regular papers, 40 book reviews, 40 reports and 20 short communications) and six books in the field of energy and management areas.
Dr Mital has edited first sixteen issues of the GIFT Society newsletter, Flexibility, first six issues of the GIFT journal Values-Based Management and twelve issues of the IILM journal Management & Change. He is the recipient of numerous awards including twice winner of the Best Paper award medal of the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering.
