Mr Sarkar's areas of interest are primarily Jurisprudence, Human Rights, Refugee Law and Disaster Management. As a student of Law, he has invaluable experience of interning with institutions like the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). He started his professional career as a Law Researcher at People's Watch, a Madurai-based Human Rights organization, where he dealt with issues involving custodial torture, caste discrimination and the post-tsunami situation. He began teaching in 2008, and joined the Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies (BILS) as a lecturer in Law.
In 2009, he moved to MATS Law School, Raipur, as an Assistant Professor, and since September 2010 he has been working at NCU Law School. He has actively participated in many seminars, and authored several articles in leading newspapers as well as Indian and foreign journals.
He is currently pursuing his PhD from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, in the area of disaster management and international law.
