Dr Hemani Kaushal did her Ph.D in Optical Communication from Electrical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. She did her Master of Engineering in Electronics Product Design and Technology from Punjab Engineering College University of Technology (PECUT), Chandigarh. She holds university position in her master’s degree.

Her research areas are optical communication, photonic switching and networking, free space optical communication, digital communication and currently she is working on hybrid FSO/RF links, high speed Passive Optical Networks (PON) and Optical Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). Before joining The NorthCap University, she has served Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, (Punjab) and Punjab Engineering College University of Technology (PECUT), Chandigarh.

She has worked on a sponsored project from Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), India with title, “Design and Development of Array-of-Arrays MOEM based Free Space Optical Link for Ground to Satellite Communication” for a period of two years (2009 to 2012) when she was doing her research at IIT Delhi. Currently she is working on another project in collaboration with IIT Delhi sponsored by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) with title, “Simulation and Analysis of System Design Requirements for Ground to Satellite and Inter-Satellite Free Space Optical Communication link”.

She has total 26 publications (6 Journals + 20 International/National conferences) to her credit. She has received best presentation award in International Conference on Light: OPTICS’11 held at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut, Kerala, May 2011. She also received second best award on National Science Day held at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on Feb 2011. List of her publications can be found in research areas
