The Data Analysis and Research Group of CSE department organized a “Workshop on Augmented Reality” on November 19, 2018. The workshop session was conducted by Mr. Sourav Nayyar, Project Manager, Fidelity International, Gurgaon. The session was started with introduction to Augmented Reality (AR), AR-Commonly used frameworks and AR – development tools. He extended the AR to mixed reality and virtual reality. The workshop was attended by 50 students and faculty members. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Vijendra Singh and members of data analysis and research group.
Department of CSE & IT conducted a Faculty Development Programme on Project based learning from December 7th to 8th 2018. Mr. Atul Verma (Knight Learning Solutions) trained the faculty on Git and SCRUM. The training was comprehensive covering various aspects of project based learning, where in all the faculties developed their own projects and learnt the usage of Git repository and SCRUM.
An exhibition of IoT based projects was held by the Department of CSE on November 17, 2018 at The NorthCap University, Gurugram. The projects showcased the skills acquired by the students of VII Semester during the “Programming for IoT Devices” Course, taught by Ms Prerna Singal. Students demonstrated their hard work, dedication and intelligence by proposing IoT based solutions for various real world problems. VC Sir, Dr. H B Raghavendra encouraged the students by gracing the occasion and giving his valuable inputs for enhancing the projects. Smart Dustbin, Voice controlled wheelchair and Motion detection alert system were judged as the best projects displayed in the exhibition.
IEI (Institution of Engineers, India) CSE NCU chapter has organized a quiz competition on 25th, October, 2018 under the guidance of Mrs. Neeti Kashyap and Mrs. Hitesh. The main objective of the event was to inculcate problem-solving skills in students. The event was scheduled to allow participants to showcase their visual and audio interpretation capability. More than 20 students were gathered there to take part in that event. The participants showed excitement with full dedication.
ACM student Chapter, Department of CSE organized a guest lecture on 23rd October 2018 on “Career Counselling for Higher Studies in USA”. The speaker was Mr. Raj Singh, Founder of Connexio, Inc., USA. His talk focused on the fact that a lot of focus is poured towards placing recent graduates in the market, while not enough is done to cater to the students who want to achieve a higher degree in their field of study. As the students set out to start on this journey, their company would act as enablers to fuel their success by providing them the right opportunities and direction. Connexio (connexio.io) is a developing mobile and web applications that connect international students with global universities using Artificial Intelligence. Around 119 B.Tech students attended the lectures and 20 of them got selected as student ambassadors. Apart from gaining information on higher study these students shall also be involved as interns with their product development team. He ensured that based on students’ performance and contribution they shall be receiving certificates from Connexio Inc., USA. The lecture was a big success with students. The event was organized by Dr. Rita Chhikara and Ms. Meghna Sharma.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized ten days Faculty Development Program on “Data Science” from 21st December 2018 – 5th January 2019. The speaker for this FDP was Mr. Manuj from Mages Studio, Singapore. There were approximately 20 participants from computer science and electronics department involved in this training. The faculties went through a rigorous training throughout this program. The central theme of this workshop was to provide a broad overview of basic concepts related to Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Python. The ultimate objective was to promote awareness about recent trends in these areas among researchers and faculty from university. This workshop also aimed to improve the quality of data science teaching and learning process. The idea was to stimulate young researchers and faculties for producing a quality research, project proposals with efficient ideology.
45 students of 1st Year CSE & IT visited M2R Technomations, Gurgaon as a part of Induction program conducted at NCU. The students visited the company in 2 batches along with faculties Dr. Geekita on 27th July and Yogita on 2nd Aug. The students were briefed upon the latest trends in the field of computer science and potential of these technologies in future. The visit was organised by Ms. Priyanka Rastogi, CSE IT faculty.
Mr. Vineet Gupta, Product Development Engineer, and Mr. Karan Wadhwa, Operations Engineer, Gemini Solutions Pvt Ltd. alumni CSE/IT, visited NCU on 25th July 2018 to share their “Life at NCU” with first year students during their Induction program. Both the speakers were grateful to fraternity of NCU for providing them the platform to grow. They emphasized on thinking out of the box and regularly updating on latest trends. They shared their success story and advised the students to identify their strengths and enhance their skills in that area. Mr. Vineet is also Founder of a startup “Ingifto”. He shared the challenges faced by him in starting this venture and the satisfaction he has drawn in achieving his dream. They concluded by giving food for thought for all students “Stay Raw! Be more than most!”. The talk was organized by the alumni team of CSE/IT Department comprising of Dr. Rita Chhikara, Dr. Yogita Gigras, Ms. Garima Sharma.
A group of 28 B.Tech CSE students from Ist semester attended the workshop on “Digital India Programme” at Centre of e-Governance (CeG), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), New Delhi on 03.08.18. The students learnt about the e-Governance projects being implemented through National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), to bring in efficiency and effectiveness in citizen-centric services, socio-economic transformation, especially in the fields of education, health, skill-building, entrepreneurship and in creating employment opportunities. Three of our students won prizes in the Digital India Quiz. Two faculty members Dr. Jyoti Sahni and Ms. Kanika Gupta accompanied the students for the visit.
Dr Nitin Malik, EECE and Dr. Jyotsna, CSE got an opportunity to visit Industry (DNA Automation) in Faridabad from 30-31st may 2018 and learn hands-on on the latest in the field of Automation. They got to work upon relays, circuit breakers and industrial-scale PLC and SCADA (Supervisory Control and data requisition systems).The official from the DNA automation also took them to other ancillary organizations within the Faridabad city which manufactures electrical panels. They have a close look at how the electrical switchgear equipment’s are manufactured and assembled into the panels according to predesign.
